Region 
Choosing the right portfolio mix is similar to choosing on the stock market. We should avoid putting all our eggs in one basket and therefore diversify our portfolio across different wine regions. To this end, we should always keep a few classics from regions such as Piedmont, Tuscany, Bordeaux and Champagne in the portfolio. But it is also important to diversify not only across regions but also across countries and to include wines from Spain, Portugal, Switzerland and Austria, for example. 
 
Quality 
The first step towards success has been taken with the selection of wine regions for our portfolio. Now comes the main part of the research. Not every producer within these selected regions maintains the same quality standards. It is estimated that only 0.1% of the world's wine production reaches investment quality. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to select award-winning wines from top producers. 
 
Storage 
It is not enough to store carefully selected wines in an ordinary cellar if you expect serious returns. The importance of professional storage of wine is the key requirement to obtain world-renowned quality labels. Many auction houses won't even accept the wine if they feel that the storage requirements have not been met.

We are committed to providing the highest standards of storage, maintenance and insurance of your equipment on your behalf. The associated costs will be shared between the splint holders and included as an ongoing cost in relation to each asset. So if you own 1% of the wine bottles, your splint account will be charged 1% of the associated costs. Further details and breakdowns are listed in the factsheet for each investment. 
 
Exit fee 
When you sell an investment, you will be charged a flat fee of 2% of the transaction volume. This includes our expenses for sales on the secondary market, our costs for maintaining this market and our organisation of an asset sale at the end of the contract.

Why Investing in Domaine Leroy? 
<a href="https://souverainewine.com/domaine-leroy">Domaine Leroy </a>was founded in 1868 by François Leroy under the name "Maison Leroy" and quickly became a significant negociant estate in the region. The estate boasted some of the finest Grand Cru and Premier Cru locations. In 1942, François' grandson, Henri, acquired half of the legendary&nbsp; Domaine de la Romannée-Conti (DRC). Today, the Leroy family formally owns 50% of the shares of the DRC. 
 
Lalou Bize-Leroy, the grande dame of Burgundy, left DRC&nbsp;in 1992 after acquiring the estates of Charles Noëllat and Phillippe Remy, merging them into what is now "Domaine Leroy." Inspired by Nicolas Joly (Château de la Roche-aux-Moines), Lalou quickly converted all vineyards to biodynamic cultivation.
