Description
To ensure the competitiveness of the investment, we conducted a thorough verification of the purchase price by analyzing recent gallery transactions and auction results. Our analysis confirmed that the price offered, inclusive of all associated fees, is highly competitive. To estimate the potential ROI, we used the inflation-adjusted historical auction results of same-sized and same-medium paintings by the artist. For our conservative scenario, we assumed the value of the painting would grow at the rate of Swiss inflation, reflecting a defensive approach. In the balanced scenario, we used the average 16% sale-to-sale price increase for comparable artworks to the present drawing in terms of medium, content, technique, and year. Finally, in the ambitious scenario, we used the highest achieved auction price for comparable artworks in terms of medium, content, technique, and year.
Exit Options at Maturity 🚪
We will manage the exit strategy in collaboration with our expert Artemundi on behalf of our investors, ensuring the best possible outcome based on market conditions at the time. Depending on the prevailing market situation, the painting will be sold to a private collector or offered as a single lot at an auction for modern art. An auction is considered if the price has developed to the point where the minimum bid matches the market value and there is high demand for works by the artist. Both options are carefully considered, and we will choose the one that maximizes the return for our investors.
Why Invest in This Category? 🎨
For generations, art has been treasured for its cultural, emotional, intellectual, political, and economic significance. Investing in an established artist like Joan Miró combines strong financial potential with the joy of owning a masterpiece, appealing to both new and seasoned collectors alike.
Why Invest in This Asset? 💎
Investing in this unique artwork by Joan Miró offers a rare opportunity to own a piece of art history by one of the 20th century's most influential Surrealists. Together with Salvador Dalí and René Magritte, Joan Miró today is known as a leader of the Surrealist movement and one of the most important artists of the 20th century. His unique style shaped the term Modern art and his relevance for art history is echoed in the art market where Miró keeps taking center stage with artist greats like Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, and Claude Monet. In the last 20 years, works by Miró sold for over 248 million USD at auction, and the artist confidently maintains his place in the list of the Top 25 artists by value and by volume. Miró experimented with many different mediums throughout his career and famously pushed each technique to new dimensions, fully exploring the surrealist theme in all layers of his artworks.
This rare work on paper forms part of a series that Miró created in preparation for his first textile work, the monumental tapestry known as Tapís de Tarragona. While the present motif is well known through its lithograph reproductions and publications, the original paper remained in a private collection and has never been exhibited publicly since its creation and subsequent acquisition directly from the artist. The subject is emblematic of the artist’s late work and exhibits the key color palette and abstract, biomorphic forms Miró is famous for. As many of Miró’s works, the present one is titled “Composition” to not identify the freely swirling forms and to leave its interpretation to the eyes of the beholder. The number “3” on the back of the artwork indicates the sequence of creation within the series of works on paper that he created in a short period of time and as a flow of inspiration for his tapestry project.
The Tarragona Tapestry, known as Tapís de Tarragona, was Miró’s first and one of his finest textile creations. After Miró’s daughter, who had suffered a train accident, was successfully treated by Dr. Rafael Orozco, the artist decided to thank him with a gift: a monumental tapestry of 2.80 x 4.20 meters. Miró, who was new to tapestry production but admired the Catalan textile tradition, collaborated with the young artist Josep Royo to help create the masterpiece. Together they developed an experimental technique using wools of different thickness and different knotworks to give greater plasticity to the tapestry. As preparatory work, Miró drew his ideas on a series of papers which then freely merged into the final composition of the tapestry. Other than most of the preliminary drawings that are preserved privately, today the tapestry is accessible to the public as it forms part of the Modern Art Museum of Tarragona, Spain.
Conclusion 🎯
This unique Joan Miró artwork represents a rare investment opportunity combining historical significance, cultural value, and financial potential. Its strong provenance, connection to Miró's iconic tapestry project, and the artist's enduring market performance make it a standout asset with promising appreciation prospects for collectors and investors alike.
