There are whisky investors all around the world who have been adding whisky casks to their portfolios for a long time. Investing in high quality alcohol is a very attractive proposition due to historical returns of close to 13% per annum. In the past, whiskey investors were mostly wealthy private investors who were not deterred by the high barriers to entry. This is because not everyone has the necessary capital, contacts or time to acquire such an investment on their own. 
 
Whisky must be matured in a cask for at least three years before it can officially be called "whisky". Three years is not always the final figure, there are many whiskeys that are aged for 10, 12 or even 20 years before being bottled. 
 
Since whisky does not continue to mature after bottling, it is crucial to let it mature in the cask until the desired age is reached. 
 
For distilleries, this means that a lot of capital is tied up in whisky casks that sit around unused for years before the contents are bottled and sold. The tied-up capital could otherwise be used by the distillery for investments in research and development activities, facilities or marketing. 
 
Due to high demand, whisky is being bottled younger and younger. This means that we are already in possession of a scarce commodity. The scarcer the commodity, the higher the earnings potential.

External maintenance costs 
We are committed to providing the highest standards of storage, maintenance and insurance of your equipment on your behalf. The associated costs will be shared between the splint holders and included as an ongoing cost in relation to each asset. So if you own 1% of the whisky, your splint account will be charged 1% of the associated costs. Further details and breakdowns are listed in the factsheet for each investment. 
 
Exit fee 
When you sell an investment, you will be charged a flat fee of 2% of the transaction volume. This includes our expenses for sales on the secondary market, our costs for maintaining this market and our organisation of an asset sale at the end of the contract.

The Macduff Distillery was established in 1958 by a group of investors who wanted to create a new whisky distillery in the Speyside region. It began production in 1960. 
 
Whisky Brand 
The whisky produced at the Macduff Distillery is primarily marketed under the name "Glen Deveron." It is known for producing single malt Scotch whisky. 
 
Location 
The distillery is situated near the mouth of the River Deveron, which flows into the Moray Firth. The proximity to the river influences the water used in the whisky production. 
 
Whisky Style 
Glen Deveron whisky is typically known for its light and fruity style, which is characteristic of many Speyside whiskies. It's often considered approachable and suitable for both newcomers to whisky and seasoned enthusiasts. 
 
Ownership 
Over the years, the Macduff Distillery has changed ownership several times. It has been part of the Bacardi-Martini Group and is currently owned by John Dewar &amp; Sons Ltd, a subsidiary of Bacardi Limited. 
 
Production Capacity 
The Macduff Distillery has a production capacity that allows it to produce a significant quantity of whisky annually. 
 
Visitor Center

Independent Bottlings

The price of € 28,800 includes the Splint Invest platform fee and external maintenance costs of €3,000. € 25,800 can be allocated to the cask.
