Main reasons to invest

  • Over the past 10 years, whisky from the Highlands region has achieved an average annual increase in value of just under 10%.

  • Whisky bottled in sherry casks achieves an additional value increase of up to 25% over 10 years.

  • The Tomatin distillery celebrated its 125th anniversary in June 2022.

Description

Whisky from sherry casks has become much more popular in the last decade. The main reason for this is the steadily increasing demand for high-quality single malts.

Another reason for the price increase is that the number of sherry casks needed for storage has not increased to the same extent. Distilleries now pay five times as much for empty sherry barrels as for an ex-bourbon barrel.

If you watch the prices on the auction sites or Macallan's recent campaigns, you can see that whisky and sherry are as iconic a duo as ever and will remain so.
