Description

This is the first en primeur investment on the platform. With en primeur (subscription) wines, one invests in new wine that has not yet been bottled. However, the subscription wine is not traded in barrels, but bottles. Purchases of wine en primeur for investment purposes have similarities to the futures market: The wine is purchased before it reaches maturity, as the buyer has a price expectation for the wine in the future.

The expectation of subscription investment in wine from Château Figeac can be summarised as follows: It is an emerging winery that has recently made large investments for a state-of-the-art wine cellar that will increase wine quality. As a result, the winery is considered a likely candidate for promotion to Grand Cru A class. Historically, such class advancements have had a positive impact on wine prices. Therefore, an en primeur investment here is extremely exciting.

Château Figeac is a beautiful country estate on the gravel plateau of Saint Emilion with 40 hectares of vineyards diagonally opposite Cheval Blanc. The proximity to Cheval Blanc is definitely reflected in the wine - especially in great years. The former owner Thierry Manoncourt, who sadly passed away in 2010, himself even believed that his wine was the finest in the appellation. In any case, they are full-fruited, charming and harmonious, already pleasing in youth and usually ready to drink early.
