Why Investing in Domaine Leroy?
Domaine Leroy was founded in 1868 by François Leroy under the name "Maison Leroy" and quickly became a significant negociant estate in the region. The estate boasted some of the finest Grand Cru and Premier Cru locations. In 1942, François' grandson, Henri, acquired half of the legendary Domaine de la Romannée-Conti (DRC). Today, the Leroy family formally owns 50% of the shares of the DRC.
Lalou Bize-Leroy, the grande dame of Burgundy, left DRC in 1992 after acquiring the estates of Charles Noëllat and Phillippe Remy, merging them into what is now "Domaine Leroy." The vineyard spans 23 hectares, predominantly classified as Premier Cru and Grand Cru. Domaine Leroy is renowned for its Burgundy red wines, known for their finesse and purity. Inspired by Nicolas Joly (Château de la Roche-aux-Moines), Lalou quickly converted all vineyards to biodynamic cultivation. Vision, cultivation consistency, uncompromising yield reduction, and pursuit of the highest quality characterize Domaine Leroy, especially under Lalou Bize-Leroy's leadership.
It's worth noting that the Grande Dame of Burgundy, Madame Lalou Bize-Leroy (born in 1932), one of Burgundy's most important figures, has reached an advanced age. If she is no longer present, her magical wines will cease to exist. This scarcity will inevitably lead to increased prices for wines bearing her signature.
The Domaine Leroy Chambertin Grand Cru, 2013
Is a wine that embodies the harmony between terroir and winemaking mastery. Hailing from the Cote de Nuits region in Burgundy, France, renowned for its high-quality red wines, Domaine Leroy's Chambertin Grand Cru is consistently masterful and profound. The 2013 vintage boasts finely etched details, beginning with a complex nose of wildflowers, savory spices, and blackberry fruit. It serves as an idyllic illustration of the harmony between terroir and winemaking mastery.
The Domaine Leroy Romanee-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru, 2014
Stands out as another exceptional wine from Domaine Leroy. Also originating from the Cote de Nuits region in Burgundy, France, this wine is a testament to the vintage's resilience against adversity, particularly in a year marked by climatic inconsistency in Burgundy vineyards. It, too, serves as an idyllic illustration of the harmony between terroir and winemaking mastery.
