Description

Valuation Summary 📝
To ensure the competitiveness of the investment, we conducted a thorough verification of the purchase price by analyzing recent gallery transactions. Our analysis confirmed that the price offered, inclusive of all associated fees, is highly competitive. To estimate the potential ROI, we used the annualized return of her paintings over the past three years. For our conservative scenario, we assumed the value of the painting would grow at the rate of Swiss inflation, reflecting a defensive approach. In the balanced scenario, we assume an 80% probability of realizing a 27.7% (CAGR of the past 3 years) annual return for the next 4 years. Finally, in the ambitious scenario, we assume a 100% probability of realizing a 27.7% (CAGR of the past 3 years) annual return for the next 4 years. These potential returns over the next four years, under both the balanced and ambitious scenarios, are further enhanced by the 9% discount at which this beautiful work is offered compared to the current gallery price for similar-sized works.

Exit Options at Maturity 🚪
We will manage the exit strategy in collaboration with our expert M&A Arts on behalf of our investors, ensuring the best possible outcome based on market conditions at the time. Depending on the prevailing market situation, the painting will be sold to a private collector or offered at an auction for contemporary art. An auction is considered if the price has developed to the point where the minimum bid matches the market value and there is high demand for works by the artist. Both options are carefully considered, and we will choose the one that maximizes the return for our investors.

Description about this asset 🖼️
Minjung Kim, born in Gwangju, South Korea, in 1962, is a contemporary artist celebrated for her unique ink paintings that combine Korean traditional aesthetics with process-driven art. Encouraged by her family, Kim trained under master calligraphers, developing precision and a deep understanding of Asian philosophical traditions.

She studied Oriental painting at Hongik University, Seoul, in 1980 and focused on ink painting materials during her Master's program, graduating in 1985. Her fascination with European art led her to Milan, where she graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in 1991. Here, she analyzed works by Western artists like Paul Klee and Franz Kline, who had been influenced by Oriental painting. This sparked a shift in her art, moving away from Korea's figurative tradition toward a focus on the expressive potential of marks and textures.

Kim's work bridges Eastern and Western techniques and philosophies. She has mastered two fundamental mediums: mulberry Hanji paper and ink. Kim creates shapes and layered compositions with that paper by burning the edges or perforating it with the flame of a candle or incense. For Kim, this process symbolizes the transience of time. Her work explores themes of emotion and meditation while achieving a balance between traditional Korean aesthetics and modern concepts.

Over the past two decades, Kim has exhibited extensively across Europe, Korea and the United States. Her numerous solo and group exhibitions have included shows at prestigious public institutions and major art events. Highlights include her showcase at the Venice Biennale in 2015, a solo exhibition at the Gwangju Museum of Art in 2018, a group show at the Langen Foundation in Germany in 2019, and exhibitions in the US at the Princeton University Art Museum in 2020 and the RIDS Museum in 2022, with both institutions acquiring one of her paintings.
