Description

Valuation Summary 📝
To ensure the competitiveness of the investment, we conducted a thorough verification of the purchase price by analyzing recent transactions and current market values on the secondary card market. Our analysis confirmed that the price offered, inclusive of all associated fees, is competitive. To estimate the potential ROI, we based our analysis on the historical price development of this sealed booster box. For the conservative scenario, we assumed the value of the displays would grow at the rate of Swiss inflation, taking a defensive approach. In the balanced scenario, we applied 40% of average annual price increase since 2015 of the sealed Expedition Display Pokémon Base Set from 2002. Finally, in the ambitious scenario, we applied 60% of the average annual price increase since 2015 of the same sealed display.

We will manage the exit strategy on behalf of our investors, ensuring the best possible outcome based on market conditions at the time. Depending on the value of the card and the prevailing market situation, we can either sell the card privately to a collector or take it to auction. Both options are carefully considered, and we will choose the one that maximizes the return for our investors.
Why Invest in This Category? 🎨
Investing in Pokémon cards is particularly timely with the franchise's upcoming jubilee, expected to drive heightened interest and value appreciation in rare and nostalgic collectibles.
Why Invest in This Asset? 💎
The Pokémon Expedition Base Set holds a unique and pivotal place in the TCG's history. Released in 2002, it was the first English-language set produced by Nintendo after taking over from Wizards of the Coast. This marked not only a shift in ownership, but a major aesthetic evolution—introducing e-Reader technology, wider card layouts, and bold new artwork that blended nostalgia with innovation.

Unlike Base Set or Jungle, Expedition was not printed in large volumes, and even fewer displays were intentionally preserved in sealed condition. Most boxes from this period were opened immediately, either by eager collectors or during the retail frenzy of the early 2000s. As such, finding a sealed Expedition Base Set display today is incredibly rare—especially one in clean, untampered condition.

Inside the box are 36 booster packs, each a potential gateway to high-grade holofoil classics such as Charizard, Blastoise, Mewtwo, and Alakazam. The introduction of split holo patterns and the iconic border design make cards from this set especially prized for grading and display. For collectors, owning a sealed box is about more than potential pulls—it’s about historical preservation.

What makes this display truly special is its hybrid appeal: it draws in vintage-era purists and modern collectors alike. It offers a snapshot of the early Nintendo era, when Pokémon cards began to evolve from a simple craze into a structured collectible ecosystem. Combined with rising nostalgia for early 2000s sets and a market hungry for sealed inventory, this Expedition display is a foundational collectible that bridges the old and the new.
Context in Time ⏳
The 2002 release of Expedition Base Set marked Pokémon’s pivotal transition into a new era—Nintendo’s takeover brought artistic changes and technological enhancements. Today, that moment stands as a turning point in TCG history. As modern collectors revisit the early 2000s, Expedition has gained new relevance—bridging Gen 1 nostalgia with a fresh, bold format. Its cultural and historical timing has cemented it as a milestone in sealed product history.
Conclusion 🎯
The Sealed Pokémon Expedition Base Set Display is a rare, transitional gem—bridging eras, generations, and collector sensibilities. Its unmatched preservation, iconic content, and growing reverence make it more than a nostalgic piece—it’s a cultural collectible with timeless appeal and upward trajectory. Few assets offer this level of emotional and historical synergy.
