Why LEGO BrickLink Designer Program Sets?
The BrickLink Designer Program is a joint initiative between BrickLink and the LEGO Group. The program includes designers working on LEGO Ideas projects that have reached the milestone of 10,000 supporters. The goal is to bring these fan-designed creations to life as official LEGO sets.
Here are some key aspects of the BrickLink Designer Program:
Collaboration:
The program involves collaboration between BrickLink, an online marketplace for LEGO sets and parts, and the LEGO Group, the company that manufactures LEGO products.
LEGO Ideas 10K Club Projects:
Designers from the LEGO Ideas platform, whose projects have reached 10,000 supporters, are invited to participate in the BrickLink Designer Program.
Testing and Refining:
The selected designers work with the BrickLink team to test and refine their projects. This phase helps ensure the designs are suitable for production as official LEGO sets.
Crowdfunding:
The projects go through a crowdfunding phase where enthusiasts and fans can pre-order the sets. The crowdfunding process usually takes place in multiple rounds.
Production:
The first five projects in each crowdfunding round that reach a set pre-order threshold (e.g., 3,000 pre-orders) are produced as official LEGO sets.
Exclusive Availability:
Successfully funded projects become official Designer Program sets and are exclusively available to registered BrickLink members who pre-ordered them.
