Why a Ferrari F355 Spider?
Ferrari's Transition to Modernity
Up until the F355, Ferrari had produced hand-built, pure driving machines but with the future technology of modern motoring looming on the horizon and manufacturers being forced to change to meet emission regulations, the F355 was Ferrari’s swan song to their classic driving heritage whilst also embracing modern technologies.
Innovative Design and Performance
The F355 Spider brought the spirit of Ferrari to whole new level by melding the Berlinetta and the GTS’s acknowledged performance with a superbly efficient electronically operated semi-automatic soft top.
Engineering Excellence
Honed by 1,800 hours in the wind tunnel, the Ferrari 355 was ahead of it’s time with iconic Pininfarina designing which blended elegance and aerodynamics to make a car that not only turned heads but performed as well as it looked.
Power and Precision
Featuring a mid/rear 3.5 litre V8 longitudinally mounted pushing out 380hp mated to a superb 6 speed gated manual gearbox meant that the F355 Spider was not slouch. Like Ferrari’s contemporary F1 racers of the era, the F355's heads was equipped with five valves per cylinder; three intake and two exhaust. These valves are operated by two overhead camshafts, allowing for variable valve timing, greatly improving the engine’s performance.
