Description
The timepiece celebrating the 45th Apollo 13 anniversary features a white dial with dedicated comic strip inscriptions and a Snoopy decorating the 9 o'clock sub-dial. Why a Snoopy? NASA awarded Omega with the Silver Snoopy Award. This award is handed out for significant contributions to NASA's space programs and therefore is a synonym for outstanding performance, contributing to flight safety and mission success. The inscription asks: "What could you do in 14 seconds?" - a nod to the amount of time it took the astronauts of Apollo 13 to perform one of their mid-course corrections.
A 925 silver Snoopy medallion surrounded by alluring dark blue enamel is presented on the back of the case. To give the impression that Snoopy is floating in space, a silver powder is sprinkled manually on each caseback. This is what makes each of the 1,970 pieces a unique one.
In previous models, the calibre 861 was used. For our reference, Omega integrated the calibre 1,861, a natural evolution of the previous calibre. The new calibre has a higher corrosion-resistant rhodium-plating.
