Description
The remote island of Jura lies off the west coast of Scotland. It does not have much to offer - just a road and a pub. But this small, unassuming island is home to one of the world's most famous distilleries. Jura has made a name for itself in the eyes of aficionados with its wide range of single malt creations: in the last ten years alone, sales of Jura Single Malt have skyrocketed by an impressive 150%. The smooth and delicate taste for which Jura is known is the result of some of the highest distilling equipment in the industry, which gives the spirit its pure character.
Until 1985, the distillery was owned by Charles Mackinlay, which was then sold to Invergordon Distillers (owners of Tamnavulin). Invergordon was then acquired by Whyte & Mackay a decade later. Whyte & Mackay's strong market presence in Asia has since had a positive impact on Jura Whisky sales.
