Description
Why Investing in Coche-Dury Meursault?
Prestigious Reputation and Collectible White Wines
Coche-Dury, situated in Meursault, Burgundy, is a highly esteemed producer renowned for crafting exceptional white wines from Chardonnay. While they do produce red wines from Pinot Noir, their Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has consistently ranked among the top 100 most expensive wines on Wine-Searcher, making them a sought-after choice for collectors.
For several years now, the wines from the winery have been gaining increasing attention from leading wine critics. As a result, the finest vintages have already seen five-year value increases ranging from 150% to 500%.
Family Heritage and Expanded Vineyard Holdings
Founded in 1973 through the union of Jean-François Coche and Odile Dury, the Coche-Dury Domaine has a rich family history in winemaking in Meursault. The estate has expanded its vineyard holdings beyond Meursault to Puligny-Montrachet, Auxey-Duresses, Monthelie, Volnay, and the Corton Grand Cru vineyard. Currently, they manage just over nine hectares, with Meursault accounting for about half of the total area. The winery produces only about 3,500 cases across six different wines. Sealed cases are therefore extremely rare and valuable.
Exclusive Grand Cru and Premier Cru Offerings
Coche-Dury's prestige extends to its exclusive Grand Cru offering, the Corton-Charlemagne. However, the domaine's significance is also evident in its Premier Cru wines from Meursault's Les Charmes and Les Perrières vineyards, ranking among the priciest wines in the Côte de Beaune. The Coche-Dury Meursault holds a place among the most coveted wines in the region.
Traditional Vinification Practices
Remaining committed to tradition, Coche-Dury employs traditional vinification methods. The white wines undergo an aging process of up to 22 months in barrels, with a preference for minimal use of new oak, except for their highest-quality wines. This approach contributes to the distinctive character and quality of Coche-Dury wines.
Passing the Legacy - New Leadership Since 2010
In a transition of generational leadership, Jean-François Coche handed over the day-to-day operations of the estate to his son and daughter-in-law, Raphaël and Charline, in 2010. This succession ensures the continuation of Coche-Dury's legacy, blending expertise with a fresh perspective to maintain the domaine's high standards and reputation.
